Rotary World Peace Fellowships 2012 (Deadline is May 5, 2011)

Dear Community Builder Presidents and Rotary Leaders,
Sub : Rotary World Peace Fellowships 2012 (Deadline is May 5, 2011)

The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International has initiated these new scholarships, with the following objectives:

• To advance research, teaching, publication, and knowledge on issues of peace, goodwill, causes of conflict and world understanding.

• This program is intended for individuals who have chosen their career in international relations, peace, and conflict resolution, and who already have no less than 3 years experience in these areas. For example, individuals active in journalism, civil service, non-governmental organizations, diplomacy, mediation and the military may be strong candidates.
Main Features:

• This scholarship offers 2 years Master’s level degree programme

• 6 universities have been selected by Rotary Foundation where the selected scholars will study

• A limited number of these scholarships is available.  Selection will be through world competition process

• Each Rotary district is entitled to send one nomination

Application forms may be downloaded from Rotary’s website: www.rotary.org  which may please be returned to me, duly completed and endorsed by you, so as to reach my office by 05 May 2011

Who is eligible?

Any citizen of Pakistan, male or female.  without age limit, meeting the requirements given in the application form. Persons with disabilities and members of Rotaract clubs are also eligible and encouraged to apply.  However, Rotaractors who are blood-related to Rotarians, are not eligible to apply.

 

Who should not apply?

Rotarians, honorary Rotarians, their spouses, children or grand children.

 

What should you do?

• Please form a scholarship committee in your club.  Also include your president-elect as one of the members.

• The members should also read the application form carefully so that they know what is expected from the applicants and what other requirements are to be met.

• Circulate the information to as many colleges, universities and institutions as possible.

• Give an advertisement, may be a classified one, in the local/national newspapers. This will not only attract good candidates but also make Rotary, specially your club visible.

 

Important:

Please send just one application (no more), make sure that no column is left blank and do not forget to complete the club’s endorsement page.  If any of these points is ignored, I am afraid, the application will not be considered any further.

The nominations received from the clubs, will be evaluated by District Scholarship  Committee and the selected candidates interviewed.  The application of the finally-selected candidate will then be forwarded to Rotary International, to be considered on international level for the available number of scholarships..
Notes:1. Further information can also be had from Rotary International website at www.rotary.org or rotarycenters@rotary.org2. Candidates are required to submit, along with their academic record, official transcripts for GRE or TOFEL, as mentioned in application form, to show their proficiency in English language.
