Past-Present-Future

Dear Fellow Rotarians,
Alhamdolillah, I am glad to report that Presidents Elect Training Seminar (PETS) was successfully held for incoming presidents and secretaries on March 13-14. The participation was more than 170 with representation from almost all Rotary Clubs. The training seminar was successful as it was highly interactive and majority of the participants stayed till the end of the Seminar. We were able to honor our commitment of finishing the seminar on time on both days. Majority of the participants (145 of them) helped us in our planning by Pre-Registering, which helped the Host Club (RC Lahore Midtown) in making appropriate arrangements.
Our incoming leaders were very responsive and helped us in setting District Membership and TRF Contribution goals. They also gave their evaluation feedback informing about their appreciation for the event. Everyone was excited to be a part of the Charter Team for District 3272. There was consensus that we will all work together for the betterment of Rotary in the District and will make Rotary BIGGER, BOLDER and BETTER in this part of the world.
I am thankful to our Council of Governors for their support. DG Usman Masud and PDG Aziz Memon made one-day trips to be with us and to inform us about Public Relations and Fiscal responsibilities/Polio Plus respectively. PDG Mughis Sheikh, PDG A.Q. Alavi, PDG Suhail Ahmad, PDG Abdul Rauf Rohaila and IPDG Saeed Shamsi graced the occasion by their presence and participation.
The Training Team consisting of PDG Suhail Ahmad, PP Anthony Richards and PP Max Babri provided tremendous support in planning and conducting the training. I am extremely grateful for their guidance and support. I am honoured to have them in the District training team due to their vast experience and due to the fact that they have been involved in District Training many times in the past.
I am also honoured to have participation from both countries in our District. AG Designate Dost Mohammed represented Afghanistan. We also had participation from two newly chartered clubs – RC Swabi and RC Pearl Valley Rawalakot. In addition, some friends from Mirpur and Bhimber, who want to charter new Rotary Clubs in their respective cities, also participated in the seminar. All incoming club leaders were provided Club Officers Kits, RI Presidential Citation and other Rotary literature for their reference.
I want to place on record that the Seminar would not have been so successful without meticulous planning by the Host Club (Rotary Club of Lahore Midtown). They called and motivated all participants to attend the Seminar. All members of RC Lahore Midtown were involved in making this seminar a success. I will especially like to mention President Khurram Qureshi, Khawar Rashid and Ibrahim Atif for overall logistics and support; and Ruhaina Qureshi for designing and printing of banners, folders and other material. The energetic team consisting of PP Khalid Iqbal, PP Wilson Massey and PP Sheikh Ashfaq facilitated the participants at Registration Desk. Sehir Qureshi and Shehzad Yousaf provided valuable assistance for Software Development and for managing the Registration. The Host Club also organized a dinner for the participants of PETS, where majority of the participants received gifts through lucky draws.
Kenneth Eric at the District Secretariat kept the participants informed and motivated by his regular flow of SMS, emails and follow-up phone calls. He was in touch with many of the participants and got an opportunity to meet them in person during the seminar. You will see his participation and contribution throughout the year.
The venue was also liked by the participants. There was ample parking space, food was very delicious and other arrangements were also appreciated.
Though the Seminar was very successful, I still feel there is a room for improvement. I personally take responsibility for all shortcomings and hope that, with your feedback, we will be able to further improve our future programs.
Thank you all for your continued support and look forward to an exciting and successful 2010-11 together.
Regards,
Rtn. Shehzad Ahmed ! District Governor 2010-11
