Following are some polio awareness activities being planned/carried out by different clubs for the coming NIDs from December 28-30, 2010:
RC Lahore Sharqi:
Polio Awareness Campaign on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 will be a ride on cycle (polio branded cycle) and polio branded vehicle from Lahore to Gujranwala. Please join in to see-off the participants at 9:45 am from Minar-e-Pakistan, Lahore. Please bring your club banners and polio posters to participate in this polio awareness activity. The Club members also plan to immunize children at Lorry Adda-Badami bagh.
RC Farooqabad, RC Sheikhupura Aarzoo & RC Sucha Souda:
All three clubs in Zone C-2 have planned a Polio Awareness Walk in Farooqabad on December 28, as they have done in the past. They also have started a campaign of painting “END POLIO NOW” logos on the walls of schools and houses after getting permission from the concerned residents.
RC Lahore Jinnah:
The Club members have planned to distribute polio awareness material among some of their adopted communities.
RC Rahimyar Khan Rohi (December 24):
The club members organized a “QAUMI INSDAD e POLIO MOHIM” (National Polio Eradication Campaign) on December 24, which was inaugurated by DCO Rahimyar Khan Ahmad Javed Qazi. EDO Health and other officials of Health Department also participated in the campaign. Assistant Governor Mumtaz Baig, President Ihsan ul Haq, Secretary Hafiz Mudasir Suhail, IPP Bilal Baig and Rtn. Sumaira Hafeez actively participated in the successful organization of the event along with other club members. DCO Ahmad Javed Qazi is grandson of late PDG Qazi Ahmed Shafi (DG 1978-79 of then District 327).
RC Rawalpindi (December 22):
Members of Rotary Club of Rawalpindi participated in a Seminar on “Disability & Workforce” at the auditorium of Al-Farabi Special Education Centre on December 22, 2010 at 10 am. The Seminar was organized by Monthly Pakistan Special and had a participation of around 400. Monthly Pakistan Special has been providing coverage to events and activities of Rotary International District 3272 this year. The Seminar highlighted issues like rights, laws and barriers faced by workforce after becoming disabled during jobs in factories or as a result of war against terror. Deputy Governor Iftikhar Ahmed, President Muzzammil Ahmed Zahid, Rtn. Nosherwan Khalil Khan and other members participated in the seminar. They informed the participants about Rotary International’s role in polio eradication. They distributed Rotary Polio caps, T-shirts, badges and pencils among the special children. They also sponsored refreshments for the special children and participants of the Seminar.
All Rotary Clubs are advised to upload their activity photographs on Facebook or some other internet site and provide its link along with report of their activities.
