In the past week, two new type-1 polio cases were reported from the conflict affected Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), one each from Khyber and Mohmand agencies. As of 20th December 2010, Pakistan has reported a total of 136 polio cases including 112 type-1 and 24 type-3 cases. The number of infected districts/towns/tribal agencies remains 37.
The next nationwide vaccination campaign is scheduled from 28th to 30th December 2010. Bi-valent oral polio vaccine will be administered to over 32 million children aged below 5 years of age.
