Flood Relief Project by Rotary Club of Peshawar Executives

Dear All,

The recent floods caused havoc in almost the entire country and it has turned into the biggest catastrophic event in the history of our country. I am sure the figures revealing death toll are not exact yet.

I take this opportunity to share with you the little bit folks at Peshawar are doing. Rotary Club Peshawar Executives started the relief activities on the 30th July 2010, setting up a camp in Peshawar which primarily distributed Cooked food, Biscuits, Dry Milk, Clean water, Juices and necessary Medicines. This is an ongoing activity which we are maintaining till now and intend to go on with the project till Eid. Our club was supported by Rotary Club of Peshawar South, Peshawar New city and Rotaract Club of Peshawar Executives, Peshawar South, Peshawar Ever Green Environmental Sciences. We have also been providing Basic medical facilities to the effectees as well by making field visits to random places, at an average we provided food stuff to 500 persons every day which is roughly 100 to 125 families. While with the emergence of the Holy month of Ramazan Rotary Club of Peshawar Executives have initiated Iftar Dinner project for the effectees. With the grace of God and help of the members and contacts we are serving iftari to an average of 500 effectees every day randomly at places where there is no hope or distributions. The package includes Cooked food, Samosas, Juices, Biscuits, Water bottles. All the distributions are made by members and Rotaractors. We have on the whole provided food to more than 10,000 persons so far ever since the project was initiated. To make all this possible I would like to appreciate the efforts & contributions both in cash and kind by our friends who replied positively to our call for a cause and made it possible to continue the activity.

We have now initiated an on field vaccination program for those suffering from Typhoid, malaria, Hepatitis, while the medication for skin, eye, cholera and other issues caused due to unhygienic conditions are also being provided. The main area for these activities are district Nowshehra. However A medical camp is also planned to be held in Charsadda in collaboration with Rotary Club Peshawar South and Peshawar Newcity on Sunday in the native village of PDG Hidayat ullah Khan.

I would like to thank the following Clubs, Rotarians, friends and contacts for their participation and contributions in the project:

Unfortunately the magnitude of the tragedy is so high that any level of service seems not sufficient but every little thing counts and we just need to do our little bit within our capacities. Don’t wait for any miracle because we need to support the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase as well which has not yet started. May God give us the capacity and contribute our services towards the survival and rehabilitation of the disaster hit country men. We are looking forward to your support and offer our assistance to every Rotary Club who want to participate in the relief activities in field or other wise.

Regards
