Flood Relief Efforts in Mianwali


Rtn Zahid Mirza and Rtn. Bilal Mirza of Rotary Club of Rawalpindi Rohtas joined with other friends and visited flood affected areas of Mianwali, Kalabagh and surrounding areas on August 21. We took 60 packs of dry Food, basics hygiene, kitchen utensils and toiletries (consist of 24 items) for the affected people of Marri village on left bank of Indus River.

During floods 7 feet high tide of Indus River came into Marri village and village submerged in water for 6 days. Out of 530 houses of Marri 80 houses totally destroyed and affected families are now living in the Shelterbox tents provided by Rotary International through NRSP – National Rural Support Programme of Pakistan. Village people were very thankful to Rotary for helping them during their difficult times, we have promised them to come back again to help them with more food packs in coming days.

Before going to Marri (Mianwali), we coordinated with local administration to identified need of affected people and accordingly made 60 packs consist of following items in each pack.

There is a lot we can do to rehabilitate these affectees, let us all join hands and keep praying for a better Pakistan.
